Victorian cast iron umbrella tray
A totally random find and it did take a while to work out what these were used for! Luckily we have rather clever customers and one of them knew what they were straight away! Made in C19th, these cast iron trays were used in churches (and possibly public buildings) to catch the drips from umbrellas - they would have the tips placed in them and the rainwater would have run down into them, then they would have been unhooked from the wall and emptied out.
I'm fairly certain that this isn't what they'll be used for any more - they could be planted up, used as pen trays - you'll have to be inventive but the beautiful, original weathered colour and pretty pattern make it worth the effort!
